GLACIER BAY TODAY
Saturday August 3
Picking up the naturalists
Rendu Glacier
It goes forever
A friend joins us
Looking back toward Lamplugh Glacier
Getting close to Margerie Glacier
First glimpse of Margerie Glacier
The face of Margerie Glacier is 250 feet above the waterline
Grand Pacific Glacier is to the right of Margerie
The face of Margerie Glacier
It cleared up enough to look above the face of Margerie and see where she comes from, Mt. Fairweather at 15,300 feet
Snuggled up to keep warm
A very small calving
Heading away from Margerie to John Hopkins Inlet
Love the color of glacier water
Around the corner is John Hopkins Inlet
Across the inlet is Lumplaugh Glacier
Inside John Hopkins Inlet
Topeka Glacier from Jaw Point
John Hopkins Glacier from Jaw Point approximately 5 miles away
Heading out from Jaw Point. For reference there are 5 sea kayaks with 2 people in each in the foreground of the photo.
The "face" of Lumplaugh Glacier
Heading back out of Glacier Bay. 40 miles to go.
We saw a lot of whales on the way out but they were very far away. We were lucky to get a distant photo of one.
Dropping off the naturalists and leaving Glacier Bay
