Ketchikan - August 4

Ketchikan - Sunday August 4

Woke to a cloudy cold sky....kind of like a Wednesday in Oregon.  We met our friend Meow and chatted about Thailand again and she told us where to find wi-fi in town.

Sun and Malcolm Jr. were caught goofing around with a giant eagle, but we rescued them just before the bird ate them for lunch.

There were three ships in port today for a total of over 12,000 people wanting to see all there is to see in Ketchikan.  Creek Street was packed, but we managed to find our way to the end of it where there is a green building that houses a Chinese Restaurant called Good Fortune.   We sat outside on a bench and with our phones we googled...."What is the wi-fi password for Good Fortune Restaurant in Ketchikan, Alaska"   Sure enough someone had put it on the internet and we had free wi-fi in a matter of minutes.

Vince took some pictures of a seal swimming in the creek full of salmon.  Have you ever wanted to swim in a buffet?  This guy was having the time of his life!

We sat for a couple hours, sent messages to friends and uploaded more pictures of the Obon Celebration.  By the time we returned to the ship the sky was clear with plenty of sunshine.

Back on the ship we found Noom, who is husband to Meow to get a coffee and we were able to talk to him for a few minutes in between customers.   He is also happy we are going to be living at their house in Chiang Mai.

Back in our cabin we still had phone signal so we chatted with friends and family for a couple hours and took pictures and video of sea planes taking off and landing right outside our balcony.

Vince called me to the railing and pointed out a sea snake swimming in the water.  At least that is what we thought it was.  Messages to Lisa in Japan were sent with a description and we think is was a juvenile Wolf eel.  It was at least 8 to 10 feet in length dark orange in color and had a flat body sticking up as it propelled itself through the water.

We also saw a very large private yacht anchored in the harbor so with our binoculars we found the name is "Serene"  We googled it and read that the owner is a Russian vodka Barron.  The yacht has 7 decks, a pool, several hot tubs, mall water crafts and TWO Helicopters!

Our ship was the last to leave port and we waited for the Captain to blow the horn like the other ships did......Nope!  I think they cut the wires when it was stuck on for 5 minutes in Skagway!

In the aft hot tub again after dinner.....had the area all to ourselves.

Vince calls them mosquitoes because there are a million of them and they are annoying

Leaving port and looking forward to a sea day tomorrow
