Skagway - August 2

Skagway - Friday August 2

We met Milan at the International Cafe and he told us where to find wi-fi and get a great craft beer so off the ship we went but first to find the Yarn Shop for a special request for Lisa.

We found the shop, but I couldn't remember what the name of the yarn was and needed to find my document but needed wi-fi to get there.  The woman in the shop said to go over a couple streets to the public library where the wi-fi is free.

Back in a few minutes and showed her the picture of the yarn.  She only had two left.....what a relief!   Now Lisa can make a nice warm and cozy hat and scarf for winter in Japan.

Not too far from the yarn shop was the recommendation of Milan for beer.  Skagway Brewing Co.  was packed with tourists but we found a table and ordered a flight of tasters of the craft beers they have.  The Spruce Tip Ale was separate and so good we ordered a pint to share.   In the brewing process they actually use fresh spring growth tips of the Spruce tree.   It was excellent and they have awards to prove it!

Returned to the ship and waited for sail away from Skagway harbor.  One ship left and blew their horn good bye.   About 30 minutes later we pull away from the dock and the Captain blew our horn also except........it got stuck.   And stayed stuck for a full 5 minutes!!!   We could only imaging the Captain hollering for wire cutters!!!

Here are additional photos that we took in Skagway and while leaving Skagway

Go down this street all the way to the end of town and the brewery is on the right

Red Onion Saloon where all the tourists go for beer

This is THE place to go for good micro-brews in Skagway

The beer menu

We were just about this far from port when the horn was finally silenced

Love the colors of the water

Last view ... tomorrow Glacier Bay
